Eagles Wings Women's Ministry

Eagles’ Wings Women’s Ministry reaches out to women in the St. Louis County Jail through Biblical teaching and prayer. Carole Mayfield teaches group Bible lessons, and Gail Nielsen ministers one-on-one to ladies who would like prayer and additional discussion of scripture.

Carole was born and raised Catholic, became an atheist in 1972, and was graciously saved by God in 1981 (Romans 8:28; Ephesians 2:8-10). Carole Began attending New Community Church in 1996, and in 1998 became a volunteer at St. Louis County Jail through Mission Gate. She began teaching Bible studies there in 1999, and has been doing so ever since. In 2011, Carole established Eagles’ Wings Women’s Ministry, which came to be an official ministry of NCC in 2012.

Gail was raised in a Baptist church, became a believer in 1980, and began attending NCC in 2000. She became involved in Eagles’ Wings in 2012.

New Community Church has provided Bibles for the women at the jail for many years, because God’s word is essential to their spiritual growth. These Bibles often become cherished and well used companions during difficult times. We praise God that many women at the jail have grown in the grace and knowledge of Christ through the precious gift of His word. (II Timothy 2:15, 3:16; Philippians 2:12)
